INFORMATION for people thinking about adopting is being made available at a free drop-in event.

Oxfordshire -based agency Adoption Focus will be hosting an information evening where people will be able to people talk in confidence to experienced adoption social workers and get the information they need before starting their own adoption journey.

Anna Sharkey, chief executive officer of Adoption Focus said: “We look forward to welcoming people coming for an informal chat and answering their questions about adoption. There’s no need to book a place, just turn up and a member of our friendly adoption team will be able to spend time with you.

“There’s no perfect profile of an adopter and we look at each application individually, so don't rule yourself out. Children simply need adopters who can offer a child or sibling group a loving, caring and supportive family for life and help them recover from their past experiences to thrive in their new family.”

She continued: “It is important for us to spread the message about adoption and give people the confidence to find out more.

“Adoption is a big decision, but people can be confident that we will be there for them throughout. So please do come along to meet our friendly team.”

Adoption Focus has placed 55 children from across the country with 36 families in Oxfordshire and neighbouring counties since 2009. Their office is in Kingston Bagpuize near Abingdon.

The drop-in event will take place on Wednesday 1st April 1 between 5pm and 8pm at Glyme Hall, Chipping Norton.
