ROYAL British Legion premises in Gloucester have had a revamp thanks to a £3,000 Gloucestershire County Council grant funded by the military community covenant scheme.
The centre, in Commercial Road has been refurbished to include a new drop-in centre and help desk providing a dedicated facility for serving and ex service members of the armed forces community.
The grant was used to set up the facility including carrying out electrical repairs, installing more IT connections and power points, as well as decorating the building to be welcoming for visitors.
The help desk will be manned by professional support workers and trained volunteers. Visitors can speak face-to-face with a case officer and receive practical advice to access services provided by statutory bodies, military charities and other local support bodies.
