CELEBRATED Winchcombe pottery has been put in the spotlight by a local gallery and a veteran star of BBC's AntiquesRoadshow.

A reception was held at Long Room Gallery Winchcombe on Saturday December 6 for invited guests and local residents of Winchcombe.

It was hosted by Henry Sandon, best known for his genial appearances on the Antiques Roadshow, and by John Edgeler, proprietor of the Long Room Gallery.

Mr Edgeler said: "My latest initiative is a collaboration with four local collectors to arrange periodic public displays of studio ceramics here at my Long Room Gallery, specialising in the internationally famous Winchcombe Pottery, which was reopened by Michael Cardew in 1926 and continued by Ray Finch after the Second World War.

"To kick things off, we invited an old friend, Henry Sandon of BBC Antiques Roadshow fame, to host a public reception."

Mr Edgeler added: "The opening show focusses in particular on the early days of Michael Cardew’s Winchcombe Pottery, up to 1930, and it will continue until Saturday December 20.

A follow-on exhibition of Winchcombe Pottery in the 1930s will feature the work of Ray Finch, Sidney Tustin as well as Michael Cardew, and this is is planned for May 2015..

Opening hours are 11am to 5pm, Thursday to Saturday inclusive.

Entrance to all exhibitions is free to the general public.
