CHRISTMAS shoppers are being encouraged to spend their cash in Worcester with free parking over the festive period.

Worcester City Council has announced parking in any of its car parks will be free after 6pm on the first three Thursdays in December.

Drivers paying for two hours of parking on Sundays will also be able to park for the rest of the day free from November 30 until December 28.

The offers apply to all city council-run car parks except the Corn Market while the Victorian Christmas Fair from Thursday, November 27 until the following Sunday.

The other car parks covered by the offer are Providence Street, Cattle Market, King Street, Newport Street, St Martin’s Gate, Clare Street, Commandery Road, Orchard House, Pitchcroft, Tybridge Street and Tallow Hill.

The Thursday offer does not apply to The Moors car park, which is now private during the week but open to the public during the weekend.

Lorries and coaches parking in the Croft Road car park are exempt from the offer.
