HOTELS across the Cotswolds have been celebrating after winning numerous titles in the latest awards to be handed out by the AA.

The Dormy House, near Broadway, scooped the top hotel award in England, becoming AA Hotel of the Year 2014 and 15 at the ceremony.

In 2013, the family invested in a multi-million pound refurbishment, with a complete interior redesign by London duo Todhunter Earle and a new destination spa by Sparcstudio.

The delighted team collected their title at the ceremony, hosted by TV presented Fiona Bruce.

She said: "This award is the AA’s ultimate accolade for hotels recognised as being outstanding examples in their field. This much-loved and privately-owned hotel has undergone a complete transformation. Great hospitality and food define the hotel of the year for England."

The award, sponsored by Temple Spa, was announced on Monday night at the climax to a glittering ceremony in London’s Grosvenor House.

Afterwards, Dormy’s CEO Andrew Grahame thanked the teams who contributed to this achievement saying it was a "dream come true".

"The AA Hotel of the Year award recognizes the huge effort everyone at the hotel has made since it re-opened," he said. "We’ve also had unending support from the Sorensen family, who have been involved throughout."

The Eden Hotel Collection, which runs the Kings Hotel in Chipping Campden, also left the awards with a smile on their faces after winning Small Hotel Group of the Year.

Mark Chambers, managing director, said: "We are delighted and extremely proud to have been recognised by the AA Hospitality Awards, which is hugely prestigious for our industry. To win this award in a highly competitive market place is a great achievement and one which I’m honoured to share with each and every member of our fantastic team."

Three AA Rosettes were also awarded to Buckland Manor, in Broadway.

It is now one of just 10 percent of the AA rated restaurants across the UK to achieve three Rosettes.

William Guthrie, executive head chef at Buckland Manor, said: "Since I joined the Buckland Manor team just three years ago, we have been working together to serve consistently high quality and delicious food.

"We are delighted with the three AA rosette award and assure our customers that we shall not stop here – we are determined to keep excelling and pushing on to even greater recognition."
