IT is a double celebration for a group of big-hearted slimmers from Moreton after losing 35 stone between them and raising £160 for Kate’s Home Nursing.

Members of the Moreton Slimming World group, which meet every Thursday at the Congregational Church Hall, took part in a national campaign called Slim for Good which ran across all 11,000 groups in the UK and Ireland.

The aim of the six-week drive, was to help people to lose weight and improve their health while raising money for a good cause in their local area.

Members in the group chose to support Stow-based Kate’s Home Nursing which provides care for people in the final stages of a terminal illness.

Christine Dudfield, who runs the group, said the Slim for Good campaign gave members of the group an added incentive to achieve their weight-loss dreams.

“Supporting a worthwhile cause like Kate’s Home Nursing has given everyone a special focus and real commitment to their weight-loss goals," she said.

"We’re known as the club with the big heart – so when members started talking about raising money for Kate’s Home Nursing and what we could all do together, there really was no stopping us.

"I’m so proud of what the members in the group have achieved during the six weeks."

The group's generous donation will fund more than12 hours of nursing for a local family.

People can find out more about joining by popping into a group meeting every Thursday between 5.15pm and 7pm, calling Christine on 01608 686288, email slimmingworldchris@yahoo.co.uk.
