THE development of Blockley's new Village Shop, Café and Community Hub has reached another important milestone as it looks forward to hosting its first mobile library session.

Youngsters are invited to go along to the event on Monday where the mobile library will be outside the hub, which is being built next to the current shop, from 10am to 2pm as part of the Mythical Maze summer reading challenge.

The walls are mostly all constructed for the £750,000 hub, which has been in the making for seven years, and will include a shop, post office, café and disabled toilet and will house a wide range of community initiatives.

Pam Blockley Co-operative Association member, said Monday's event was the first partner event with the library.

"We're in talks with the library people about the ways of partnering them with the new hub," she said. "The library has been absolutely wonderful they were so pleased to be able to come to the North Cotswolds.

"We want to set up a system for people who can't come down to this part of the village and can order books in the shop. And people that can't get out we're hoping we will be able to help them to order and then deliver books to them."

The mobile library will then be returning to the hub on August 4 and August 11. It is hoped the shop will be finished on September 29.
