HORSE racing fans will be in for a treat this weekend as two famous horses make a guest appearance at Broadway’s first ever Country Fair and Dog Show.

The North Cotswold Hunt is transforming its annual Kennels Open Day and Terrier Show with this newly-expanded event on Sunday at the kennel fields off the high street from 12.30pm to 6pm.

Entertainment will include display of vintage and classic cars, laser shooting, a farmers market and pig roast, traditional crafts and country clothing, pony rides, a mini-gymkhana and a whole range of dog competitions.

And horse racing fans will get the chance to see Cheltenham Gold Cup Winner, Denman and last year's Welsh Grand National winner, Miko de Beauchene who will be parading in the afternoon.

Miko De Beauchene will make an appearance ahead of Denman who is parading at 2.30pm.

Event organiser Kate Mather said: "The new look show will celebrate the best of traditional and contemporary Cotswold life with the chance for some serious shopping and human grazing as well as plenty of entertainment and fun for everyone – locals and visitors alike."

The North Cotswold Hunt’s Terrier & Lurcher Show has been a popular annual event in Broadway for more than half a century and this year NCH organisers are aiming to attract an even broader audience.

Hunt Secretary Gina Mills said: “It’s a great opportunity to showcase what’s happening in the area, promote local businesses and offer people a great day out at the same time.

"It’s an exciting mixture of old and new. You can tour the kennels, meet the puppies and our new eagle, enjoy the traditional terrier and lurcher classes and even make your family dog a star.

After the traditional Hound Parade, there will be range of fun dog classes including The Best Tail Wagger and The Dog With The Most Beautiful Eyes, not forgetting the Happiest Rescue Dog."

The fair will also help raise money for the Midlands Air Ambulance which supports counties including Gloucestershire and Worcestershire.
