COLLECTORS can make a bid to secure their own slice of Gloucestershire’s history when a number of interesting items go under the hammer.

Gloucestershire County Council’s Trading Standards Service is holding an auction of weighing and measuring equipment with some of the items on offer dating back to the 19th century.

Among the lots up for auction is equipment used for everything from measuring pints and determining the strength of spirits, to weighing cheese and checking the accuracy of petrol pumps in filling stations.

The auction will take place at Stroud Auction Rooms, Bath Road, Stroud, on Wednesday, July 9.

An online catalogue with the full list of items available at the auction will be available on the website stroudauctions.co.uk/catalogue about a week before the sale.
