A PET charity is calling for volunteers to help out in its Stow shop as national Volunteers Week gets underway.

The Blue Cross shop, in Church Street, raises money for the thousands of unwanted, abandoned and sick pets cared for by the charity’s rehoming centres and hospitals every year and is asking for pet lovers with time to spare to consider joining the team.

Felicity Thomas, manager at the Stow Blue Cross shop, said: “We have a lovely team of volunteers here at the shop and we really couldn’t do what we do without them.

"Volunteering is a great way of getting involved in our fantastic local community and getting some useful retail experience. And it’s just really rewarding to know that our work supports pets in need.

"If you think you might be able to help on a regular basis, please don’t hesitate to pop into the shop for a chat to find out more. We’d love to have you on our team.”

Volunteer duties range from sorting and displaying stock to helping customers, serving on the till and helping out with window displays.
