A COTSWOLD photographer has taken her career to the next level by becoming a member of the Guild of Professional Photographers.

Laura Parkin, who is originally from Todenham, near Moreton, took the big step from enjoying photography as a hobby to becoming a full-time professional last June.

The 25-year-old, who specialises in baby photography, set upPhotoLady in Northleach where she now lives with her partner Andy and she is enjoying every minute of it.

Being a member of the prestigious national organisation means members are dedicated to enhancing their skills in the art, craft and profession of photography and are committed to achieving the highest standards of professionalism for the benefit of their customers.

Miss Parkin, a former care worker, said the Guild offered a great support network.

"It's fantastic, they are so supportive. It's the best thing I've done," she said "They are very helpful if you've ever got any questions they will get back to you straight away."

Despite babies being a more unusual type of photography to specialise in, Miss Parkin said it is becoming more popular now in the UK.

"It's really hard but really amazing," she said. "I love what I do and I feel so lucky to be able to concentrate on this on a daily basis with support from my wonderful family and friends.

"I look at the photos at the end of the day and some of them just make me melt. It's going really well."
