A WORCESTER cancer charity has been bowled over by a £3,000 donation raised by a number of businesses in the county.

Insurance brokers Sutcliffe and Co and chartered financial planners McCarthy Taylor Ltd held a networking evening with a difference at Bowl Xtreme in Droitwich Road on Tuesday, February 4, which saw more than 30 teams from businesses throughout Worcestershire turn out.

The money was raised through donations, a raffle, and a guess the number of strikes game. Sutcliffe and Co and McCarthy Taylor also made a donation for each strike that was made.

Rachel Jones from St Richard’s said: “It was a fantastic turn out and everyone enjoyed the event, particularly saying it was great to do something different rather than the usual networking format.

“Congratulations to the winners Ballard Dale Syree Watson chartered accountants who fought off fierce competition.

“We are very grateful to everyone who made the night such a success and were thrilled to see so many companies keen to have fun and support the hospice.”

St Richard’s hospice provides free specialist palliative care for people living with cancer and other life-threatening illnesses and offers support to their families.

Each year the team of professionals and volunteers supports more than 2,400 patients and family members at its day hospice, its 16-bed in-patient unit and their own homes.
