BOOK worms have another chance to get their hands on rare, used or unused books which that been gathering dust in basements or libraries.

Following a successful book sale last year, Gloucestershire County Council is giving book collectors another chance to buy unused books and texts.

The sale is taking place at 11am on Tuesday, February 18 at the Cotswold Auction Company's saleroom in Chapel Walk, Cheltenham.

The books will be available to view before the sale on Saturday, February 15 from 10am to 1pm and Monday, February 17 from 10am to 6pm and from 9.30am on the day of the sale.

Trevor Allen, from the council's library service, said: “As with previous sales the items in this sale have been listed on the public catalogue but no-one has requested them or has gained any pleasure from them for many years.

"They should now be appreciated by those who can afford to care for them.

“As before this is a rare opportunity for other libraries and specialist collectors to get their hands on rare, antiquarian books and for the Library Service to raise some funds.”

Councllor Dorcas Binns, Cabinet member for communites, added: “I’m sure the sale will generate a lot of interest."

Full details of the auction and a catalogue of items will appear on from tomorrow (Friday).
