EBRINGTON Parish Council has reached an important milestone in developing a neighbourhood plan.
The parish, near Chipping Campden, has submitted a proposal to Cotswold District Council to have its boundaries recognised as a ‘neighbourhood area’.
Neighbourhood planning is one of the powers introduced by the Localism Act and is aimed at giving residents more influence over planning issues in their area.
Although they must follow national and local strategic policies, neighbourhood plans can give communities more of a say about what goes where and what it looks like.
Hugh Elson, chairman of Ebrington Parish Council, said: "We are aiming for a balanced population in Ebrington living in a more sustainable way whilst conserving and enhancing the Cotswold Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the conservation areas within the parish.”
Nationally, four neighbourhood plans are now in force, with 45 at the examination stage. Closer to home in the Cotswolds, Stow has already sent a submission to the district council.
