A BUILDING has been badly damaged following a fire in Chipping Campden.

Firefighters were called to the blaze in a flat above The White Rose bridal boutique, in the High Street, at 3.45pm yesterday and spent three hours bringing the blaze under control.

Crews from Campden, Moreton, Stow and Cheltenham attended the scene along with assistance from overboarder appliances from Broadway and Pebworth.

An aerial ladder platform from Cheltenham East station was also called to deal with the fire in the roof space and a damage control unit from Stroud assisted with salvage and making the building safe.

The British Red Cross (fire emergency support vehicle) were also on scene offering assistance to the occupiers of the property.

A spokesman for Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service said: ”A large area of the first and second floor has been damaged by the fire.”

It was the second fire in two days in Campden, after a man died on Saturday following a house fire in Westington.
