THE heat was on in the first round of the Rotary Young Chef competition at the Cotswold School.

Five contestants each prepared a starter, main course and a dessert for two people, costing less than £15.The judges, led by Head Chef at Gloucestershire College Shaun Naen, gave marks for planning and costing the ingredients, range of skills demonstrated, use of healthy ingredients, presentation and taste.

Year 11 student Adriana Dzable was the winner with her menu of creamy mushrooms with a grilled soda bread, honey-spiced lamb chops and lemon and lime syllabub.

She will now be competing in the district semi-finals on Saturday, January 4 at Kingshill School, Cirencester.

Bob Hadley, North Cotswolds Rotary Club spokesman, said: “This is the third year that Rotary has run this competition in the Cotswold School.

Standards are very high.”
