Housebuilder’s boost to rugby clubhouse
5:00pm Monday 28th October 2013 in News
AMBITIOUS plans to transform a rugby clubhouse have been given a £2,000 boost by housebuilder Taylor Wimpey.
Bredon Star RFC needs to raise £180,000 to fund the overhaul of the building to create a permanent social venue on the playing fields at the heart of the village.
The donation has been given to the project by the development company as it is currently building new homes on the outskirts of nearby Evesham.
Club president Dave Newcombe said: “We spent two years working with Bredon Parish Council to unlock an opportunity to create a permanent social home for the players in the heart of the village.
“We now have planning permission for the development and have so far raised in excess of £40,000 towards the project.
We were delighted to receive such a generous donation from Taylor Wimpey and cannot thank them enough for their support.”
