Shipston Brownie leader honoured with award
A BROWNIE leader in Shipston has been given an award for her tireless work in the community.
Judith Jackson, of The Hobbins, who has been the brownie leader for 27 years and is a member of the fundraising group Stour Valley Lions, was given the Anne Sankey award for her services to the community.
Mrs Jackson, aged 63, who also works at Shipston High School in learning support and produces the talking Shipston Forum, was handed the award at the last town council meeting.
“I’m honoured,” she said. “Thanks to everybody that nominated me. I had no idea it was going on.”
Mayor Ronnie Murphy said the award was given to a resident that made a great contribution to the community.
“This year we had a number of people that we proposed,” she said.
“The award goes particularly to her for the work she does with the brownies. I was amazed she had been with the Brownies for 27 years. I’m very pleased.”
