Festival fever in Evesham
11:00am Saturday 21st September 2013 in News
EVESHAM was full of food and buzzing with brass bands as two festivals took place in the town at the weekend.
The third annual Pie and Ale Festival was held in the Market Square and Abbey Park and saw guests arrive in their numbers to enjoy a wide range of food and drink.
Pie competition winners included Jumbo Cuts, Annie’s Market Garden and the Outdoor Pig Company.
The event is organised by the Vale of Evesham Commerce and Tourism Association and vicechairman Vicky Lawson said: “It was a great turnout. Kids entertainment was great with a magician, face paints and Punch and Judy.
“We also had great live bands and dancing from Vital Statistics, over 800 pies sold and ten real ales and two local ciders. The weather held off as well.”
The event ran alongside the 24th Wychavon Festival of Brass, which saw bands performing around the town in what is the premier event of its kind in the Midlands.
Shawn Riley, Evesham Market Town Partnership manager said: “It went really well. It was a nice mix with the Festival of Brass because we had a lot of bands and they thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to sample some of the pie and ales on their doorstep.”
