Use your legs to get to school, pupils told

CHILDREN have been encouraged to walk, cycle or bus to school during the Abbey Bridge closure.
Youngsters from St Mary’s Catholic Primary School in Evesham attended a ‘Choose Day Tuesday’ event hosted by Worcestershire County Council’s Choose How You Move sustainable travel initiative.
They were educated on the benefits of walking, cycling or bus travel for when the school reopened for the new term.
Headteacher Jackie Smith said: “The children thoroughly enjoyed the day. The younger children completed posters. By the end of the day they had grasped how they could encourage their parents and families to think of alternative routes from one side of town to the other.
She added: “It was a great day, linking especially well with the new bicycle and scooter park built in our grounds over the summer. We now have a new shelter and several children have already started cycling or scooting to school.”
The pupils also learned lots of practical bike skills and took part in a scooter session that saw them compete in relay races.
