Food, fashion and fun at this year’s festival
11:00am Friday 23rd August 2013 in News
FOOD, fashion and fun will go hand in hand at this year’s Stow Cotswold Festival.
The three-day bank holiday weekend event will see the town pay homage to the food and fashion outlets Stow has to offer with events and activities and stalls.
People can get into the festival mood early tomorrow (Friday) with an evening performance from the Gloucestershire Police Male Voice Choir at 7.30pm in St Edward’s Church.
The festival then kicks off on Saturday with a family fun day on the QEII field from noon to 5pm.
Attractions include a dog show, Doggie Dash, ferret racing, pony rides, heavy horses and classic cars. A country fair is taking place in St Edward’s Church from 11am to 5pm and there will be three films showings in St Edward’s Hall.
Cookery and flower demonstrations are taking place in St Edward’s Hall on Sunday from 10am to 5pm and the Festival Civic Service will be held at 11am in St Edward’s Church.
Monday will see a variety of trends hit the stage in four fashion shows and during the day the Square will be closed to traffic for a fun day.
A troupe of belly dancers will also be performing at the event.
Nigel Surman, festival committee member, said: “It’s a family extravaganza. There’s a lot of free entertainment as well as a lot of great stalls around the town.
“The idea is to get the businesses involved as much as possible so people become aware of the variety of business we have in Stow.”
Extra car parking will be opposite the QEII field on Saturday and on the field itself on Monday.
Proceeds from ticketed events will be shared between 14 charities.
