Appeal for committee members in West Oxfordshire
WEST Oxfordshire District Council is looking to fill vancancies on two committees.
Ideally, the council is looking for applicants with a good understanding of local government or public services to fill vacancies on the allowances and councillor conduct panels.
Applicants must be ‘independent’ so cannot be elected members of the district council or any town or parish council in West Oxfordshire.
Three people are needed to be members of the council’s Standards committee which reviews allowances payable to councillors and recommends any changes.
The panel also acts in relation to town and parish councils within the district.
Meetings usually take place three or four times a year, during the autumn, at the council offices in Woodgreen, Witney.
The council is also looking for an ‘independent person’ to help with standards and the code of conduct.
This person will help to decide whether complaints about councillor conduct should be investigated.
Their view may also be sought by a councillor who is the subject of an allegation of misconduct.
For details and application forms visit westoxon.gov.uk or call 01993 861521.
The closing date is Saturday.
