ONCE again the Journal is looking to give away thousands of pounds to local charities.

We are looking for local groups and organisations to benefit from the Gannett Foundation – the charitable arm of Gannett Co Inc, the parent company of Newsquest Media Group and owner of the Evesham Journal and Cotswold Journal.

The foundation supports charities with educational projects, those which help improve neighbourhoods, youth groups, those which offer assistance to disadvantaged or disabled people, or help with environmental conservation and cultural enrichment.

Typically the grants are between £5,000 and £10,000, although more modest applications are welcome.

The trustees who will decide on the winning applications will be looking for projects that demonstrate good planning, oversight and financial responsibility.

Last year Fort Royal Community Primary School in Worcester was awarded £11,881 from the Gannett Foundation, to help build a new play area.

Charities must submit copies of their most recent financial accounts, any supporting materials and details concerning the overall aims of the charity.

Each nomination will be judged on its own merits at the absolute discretion of the trustees, whose decision is final.

Applications must be submitted on the approved application form, which can be obtained by e-mailing roni.skye@midlands.newsqu est.co.uk Any applications which do not meet our criteria or which do not follow our rules and procedures will be rejected.

The completed form and supporting document should be returned to roni.skye @midlands.newsquest.co.uk by 5pm on Monday, September 16.

Please note we can only receive applications via email.

Paper submissions will not be considered.
