A CHIPPING Norton band has launched its first charity CD and hope it will be a big hit for two good causes.

The CNS Allstars, a group of young musicians who are current or former pupils of Chipping Norton School, performed tracks from the CD at a launch event at Chipping Norton Town Hall.

Midcounties Co-operative is supporting the initiative by selling the £6 CDs at its store in the town, with all proceeds split between Teenage Cancer Trust and The Mulberry Bush School.

The Allstars play a blend of swing, jazz and rock ’n’ roll from the 50s to the present day and have chosen classics like Fly Me to the Moon and the Adele hit Skyfall for the record.

Store manager Adam Quinton said: “They’ve done a great job and we hope it will strike a chord with the public.

“It’s not only entertaining but it will also raise money for two deserving causes. I have seen the Allstars perform live and their enthusiasm, skill and passion for the music really shone through.”

The group is performing at the Cornbury Music Festival, on Sunday, July 7, at Great Tew Park, Oxfordshire.
