PERSHORE Library will be closed next month as it undergoes a £500,000 revamp – but readers will still be able to access all its services at the nearby town hall.

The doors to the library close on Monday, April 8, and the service will relocate, reopening a week later.

The town council, which bought the library building from Worcestershire County Council in December 2011, is funding the £500,000 refurbishment, expected to take about 20 weeks.

Planned changes include new roofing, doors and windows and an extension to the rear of the building resulting in a larger, brighter, modern library service with an exciting and vibrant children’s library, meeting rooms and a teenage area.

Ruth Foster, Worcestershire County Council’s Literacy and Reading Manager, said: “This is a really exciting time for Pershore Library as we make our final preparations before the library building is revamped.”
