CHILDREN at a Cotswold nursery school were jumping for joy following a first-rate Ofsted report.

Stow Nursery, in St Edwards Drive, was judged ‘outstanding’ in all categories after an inspection before Christmas.

The nursery, which is based in the grounds of Stow Primary School and caters for 24 children, has improved from its last inspection in March 2009 where it was rated ‘good’.

Inspector Jenny Read said: “Children thrive and make outstanding progress in their learning and development through exceptional planning and assessment, inspired activities and highly impressive interaction.”

She also praised the “dynamic staff team” for providing a “rich, vibrant environment for children”.

Play leader Anne Page, who has been in charge of the nursery since it opened in 2007, said: “We are thrilled with the results. I think it reflects the staff’s hard work and the support we get from parents in the nursery and how settled and happy the children are.

“Staff development is important and we will continue to review what we are doing to improve.”
