PUPILS and staff at Bretforton First School are celebrating after gaining their second Green Flag for Eco- School status.
The school was awarded the prize after an external assessment by Keep Britain Tidy volunteers.
To become an Eco- School, schools must follow a seven-step process which helps them to address a variety of environmental themes, ranging from litter and waste to healthy living and biodiversity.
The school then works towards gaining one of three internationally recognised awards – including a Green Flag award – which symbolises excellence in the field of environmental activity.
Headteacher Ayse Moseley said everyone was delighted to renew their green flag.
“We are delighted to have our eco work recognised in such a positive way,” she said.
“The assessor said our work and approach are outstanding.
“The children and staff and, especially our Eco- Committee, have undertaken the work with such enthusiasm, even checking up on their families at home.
“We feel it is important that the children in our school grow up being responsible for the world around them and are encouraged that we are providing an excellent foundation at our school.”
