STRATFORD District Council has released encouraging findings on what visitors enjoy in its market towns.

Shipston was one of three towns in the survey designed to find out about the strengths and weaknesses of the towns as visitor destinations.

Surveys were carried out this year at several locations in Shipston, Alcester and Southam from July to September.

Those surveyed were very impressed with the general appearance of the towns and the atmosphere, while shopping was one of the main reasons for their visit.

Councillor Maurice Howse said: “The results will also help to focus activity on what needs to be done to improve and enhance the visitor experience so that they stay longer, spend more and most importantly return.

It is encouraging that visitors want to come back and would recommend the towns to friends.”

Places to eat and drink were commended in Shipston.

When people were asked how they enjoyed their visits, all three towns scored highly.
