Elderly drivers

WHY is it these days that more and more people are useless at driving.

At the end of the day, I’m not a mind reader – yet people expect me to be, judging by their driving.

All the time there are people not using their indicators when turning off, which should be commonsense to let people know where you are intending on going. There needs to be some consideration from the DVLA to make it compulsory for people over the age of 60 to have a practical test to see if they are still good enough to be driving at their age, as it seems that the most dangerous people on the road are people of that age as their reactions are not as good and their driving gets sloppy.

What a load of tosh and I am 38 years old. I have seen young drivers who pose a greater risk to other drivers on the road, so to single out older people is nonsense. Agreed, some older people do drive slow, sometimes dangerously slow, but by no means are they the worst of drivers.

I am only going on what i have experienced. Also there should be some sort of test for older drivers as how do they know at an older age if they are still safe to drive on the road. Their reactions are not as good as young people are therefore drive around 40mph in a 60mph zone which is dangerous and means that people get frustrated and try to overtake which can cause an accident. I for one drive to all the speed limits and more than often will get caught behind someone going 40mph in a 60mph zone. Another problem is that people that are the older drivers will always say that young drivers are the worst and will always tell a young driver such as myself differently. I think they need to look at themselves as i bet most drivers haven't read their highway codes recently and know of recent changes to speed limits such as dual carriageways moving from 60mph to 70mph.
