My letter is in support of the views of Ms Webb, Green and Mr Parker regarding the Plane tree in the market square. How dare people threaten to remove it. Surely AXA realise it is in a conservation area. We the people living in Evesham, if we get wind of anything happening to it, will demand a tree preservation order to be placed on it. It is disease free, completely healthy and nice to look at.
Last week when temperatures rose to 31 degrees all the garden benches were too hot to sit in the sun, everyone took advantage of the seating in the shade under the tree. Many elderly rest there as do mothers with babies, even business men sit there to eat their lunch.
So save your pennies, the pounds will look after themselves by reducing the shop rents. These are difficult times we all know that. Your clients will return to open up again and we will all be happy to see our Riverside Park Centre come back to life. The centre we waited many years for and want to be proud of again, not depressed.
If you want to spend money sit for 10 minutes under the tree and look around. the Town Hall is a disgrace, neglected for many years. The old buildings dating back centuries lacking paint, some window frames are bare wood, other flaking. These buildings are our heritage so do something quickly.
