I refer to the leaflet delivered to my door headed ‘Avon Meadows Community Wetland’ showing a picture of the recent flooded fields behind Cherry Orchard.
This has prompted me to write about my concerns as a resident living near to the wetlands project.
Firstly, you refer to the Avon meadows Community Wetland but did anyone ask the community if we wanted a wetland? We already have a lovely river walk on our doorstep and wild life all around us.
The wetlands is on a floodplain. Where will the water go when the river floods again?
What about the danger to children? It is so near to the school in Cherry Orchard. Water is an attraction to children, especially in the summer months.
And finally, it seems to me this is an extravagance in a time when money could be better used to repair our footpaths in Appletree Road, to mention just one area in Pershore that needs improvement, which will be of benefit to the community.
