WE are asking you if you could help us to find somebody with a connection to D-Day in the Vale.
My son, Ellis, aged 11, currently a pupil at St Nicholas Middle School in Pinvin, is due to go on a trip to Normandy in France.
The trip will include visits to Pegasus Bridge and the D-Day landing beaches.
During an information evening it was suggested to the children that anyone had a story or a connection to D-Day to bring it with them as it would enhance their experience and make it more real to them.
Ellis has always had a strong interest in both the world wars and would have loved to have had this opportunity, but unfortunately, despite local searches through Trudy Burge and our local British Legion we seem to have drawn a blank.
We were just hoping that somewhere in the local area there would be someone or their family who could share a story about D-Day especially as we are approaching the 71st anniversary.
