LANCE Perkins should stop criticising the law enforcers for levying speeding fines on errant motorists, and the positioning of speed cameras (Letters, March 19).

Presumably, these vast amounts Mr Perkins refers to are placed into public funds, benefiting us all. Instead, he should concentrate his efforts in writing to your column to advocate that motorists keep within speed restrictions – an easy thing to do, it's not rocket science – thus making our roads a safer place. No speeding, no fines, problem solved.

Keep calm, dear Mr Perkins, chill out and enjoy your motoring, but another word of advice: if you choose to put your foot down before being released from a speed restriction watch out for that big bad wolf you so despise, pockets stuffed with dosh, lying in wait round that bend for you!
