FOUR years ago I was co-opted to join Pershore Town Council when a number of vacancies occurred following the election.

My experience as a councillor has been both educational and enjoyable.

During this period the council has purchased and refurbished the library and effected extensive restoration of the cemetery chapel, work for which it received two awards.

As I step down from office to make way for a younger person I would urge people to come forward to offer their time and expertise to serve their community.

Pershore is set to expand considerably with widespread building developments.

New people coming in should be welcomed for the benefits they will bring to the economy of the town.

Major changes will need to be monitored to ensure the essential attractive character of Pershore is preserved. It is the envy of other places.

So if you care about Pershore and its future, why not offer your service on the town council?

Women are seriously under represented here, and we should not leave all the decision making to the men. Induction training is given to new councillors, and town clerk Ann Dobbins is very supportive. Nominations close at 4pm on April so get moving.
