I WRITE with reference to the letters you published on February 19 concerning the traffic in Station Road, Pershore, and your leading article on March 12.

The planning committee at Wychavon, in its wisdom, has approved the building of more than 600 houses with no regard for the traffic chaos that will follow.

The long queues on Station Road, the High Street, Three Springs Road and Allesborough Hill, not to mention Pinvin crossroads, affect not only the residents of Pershore but also those in surrounding villages who have to go through Pershore to their destinations.

There are no planned road improvements to handle the increased traffic, and I fail to see how the existing infrastructure can support this development.

We know how the current Conservative councillors voted on this issue. Decisions such as these should not be made along party political lines but with the interests of all Pershore residents at heart.

Please consider carefully who to vote for on May 7.
