OVER the past many years there has been a lot of talk about providing Pershore with a new north relief road going from the Worcester road to Station Road and following the Wyre road and over a new rail bridge to the existing roundabout on the A44 at the start of the Wyre bypass.

Until very recently this was seen as a very achievable project.

The much-needed housing in Station Road, Pershore, seems to have put the kybosh on this and everyone’s efforts and aspirations as one developer Persimmon Homes is refusing to provide the necessary roadway access for this to take place, and as far as I can see Wychavon District Council planners are not standing against the developer.

This is the only route at the junction of Station Road and Wyre Road that could possibly be taken as other route are not feasible.

If Wychavon does not make a stand on this refusal then Pershore town centre, Station Road and all the roads off down to and including Pinvin crossroads will become one big traffic jam, probably before all the planned housing is complete.

I would ask everybody in Pershore and the surrounding area to look at the planning application and consider if traffic jams and long queues are what we want, because if the development goes forward without the road access this is what we will get.
