OUR MPs want a two-hour train service from Worcester to London.
About £80million was spent recently on redoubling part of the line, and there are now more trains than ever before, but the timetable remains probably the slowest ever.
Twenty-five years ago the 1712 Paddington was booked 1 hour 39mins to Evesham.
Today, the fastest evening “express” takes 1 hour 53 minutes.
Worse still, weekday trains are booked to spend an incredible total of 81 minutes waiting time at Evesham.
Our beloved but dawdling Cotswold line is surely the Cinderella of our mainline routes.
