I HAVE just returned from a visit to the Worcester Royal Hospital.

The car parking situation there is nothing short of ridiculous.

Every space in both car parks along with the onroad parking bays was full, with the result that drivers were circulating in each car park in the hope of finding a vacant space, and stopping anyone else from moving in or out.

In desperation I parked in the residential area of Hoskyns Avenue, over half a mile away, which meant that I finally arrived some 30 minutes after my appointment time.

With the imminent opening of the new and much needed oncology unit, I can only see the situation getting worse.

When planning major developments such as regional hospitals why is consideration seemingly never given to car parking needs?

Surely it must have been possible to include at least one multi-storey car park?

In discussing the parking situation with a member of staff, I learned that he is required to purchase an annual parking permit, which still doesn't guarantee him a space, so what chance does the average member of the public have?
