MAY I take this opportunity to thank all those who came along for the litter pick in Pershore and Pensham on Saturday, October 4.

Although the weather was dreadful, during the early part of the morning some 22 volunteers turned up at the town hall and in Pensham and spent a couple of hours or so clearing many of the roads, lanes and footpaths.

The volunteers concentrated on areas along Station Road, Defford Road, around Abbey Park Middle School, Cherry Orchard, Holloway, the area around the leisure centre, Pensham, Comberton Road and the bridges picnic area.

There will be another litter pick in the town next February or March so keep a watch for information in the new year and in the town council’s newsletter.

I hope we get even more volunteers next time, and before then please report to the town hall any particular litter blackspots.

Of course, it would be ideal if there were no litter problems on our roads and footways and that everyone took their waste home with them, but I’m afraid we are a long way from Utopia.

One again many thanks to the volunteers.

Tony Rowley

Mayor of Pershore
