MY usual walk with the dogs was curtailed (September 13) when I observed that the hunt was out over the fields where I usually walk (on the public footpath between Sedgeberrow and Wormington).

The hounds were running over the path and into the field of maize immediately adjacent.

I was unable to continue, as I didn't wish to endanger my own dogs.

I rang the police, as this appeared to be an illegal activity. Surely a legitimate outing of the hunt would not involve a pack of hounds running over a public place where many people walk, as well as young people and children playing and sometimes camping by the river? It is sickening to think of the plight of the beautiful wild animals that inhabit the fields around the village.

They have every right to be there, and every right right not to be hunted down and torn to bits by a pack of dogs controlled by a bunch of arrogant, selfish people who, bearing in mind that this is the start of the cubbing season, are probably breaking the law.
