LET joy be unconfined!
Once again, Pershore High Street is to be closed (Journal, September 18), this time for essential sewer works.
So be it, it’s the price we pay for living in an ancient town.
I am a new boy in Pershore. I only moved here in 1984, but I don’t recall a single year in which the High Street has not been closed for some reason or another!
The traders do a remarkable job in the face of such adversity – and I for one will continue to make the effort to fight my way into town and do my modest shopping.
My heart sank when I read that Severn Trent are involved – it is to be hoped after the job is done they will condescend to put their new manhole covers nearly level with the existing smooth road surface!
