AFTER all the bad press over the new bridge in Evesham here is a letter of praise for county highways.

In January I reported a flooding issue along our road in our village and said we needed an extra road drain.

Last week the highways workmen arrived, installed the new drain, and also repaired the next one along and laid some tarmac next to another drain.

Thank you for a job well done.

Back to the bridge, I suggested to highways in June that the traffic lights next to the new bridge could be phased so that each road moves in turn like the Pinvin crossroads.

This would be a simple solution to the problem of right turn traffic becoming marooned in the centre of the road when traffic on Cheltenham and Abbey roads moves at the same time.

Maybe this will be next on their list?
