I WALK along Bridge Street at least once a day, and wish to support the concerns of John Andrews (Journal, August 28).
Traffic entering the town is not too bad and probably averages 30mph.
When the speed-activated 20mph warning sign was in position recently I watched for 10 minutes and observed that every vehicle caused the sign to illuminate.
It is the outgoing vehicles that are the problem. Once clear of the High Street congestion some accelerate rapidly to speeds greatly in excess of 20mph.
