OH, well done, the Bell Tower Appeal committee – another success!
I was unable to attend the auction at the Ivy, but after a phone call from Dr Sue Ablett I heard the wonderful news.
I donated my father Edward Francis Hughes's matchstick model of the bell tower and an iced fruit cake and am so glad they did well (can I just say thank you to my sister, Maralyn Rimell, for allowing our father's creation to be auctioned).
Talking of the bell tower brings me to the Abbey Park and riverside. I am full praise for the council for the wonderful planting this year.
I walk regularly through the park and along the riverside. From the forget-me-nots in the spring to the summer floral display, it is a treat.
