HINTON-on-the-Green is a very small village and there are precious few people who step forward to run events here.
On Sunday, July 6, we had our annual fete to raise much-needed funds for our church, which is our only community resource.
A couple in the village went to a lot of trouble making and putting up signs, which is one of the few ways we can advertise to a wider audience. A few days before the fete the signs disappeared (their removal was reported in the Journal last week, July 3).
Actions like this are really disheartening for a group of people working to put on a fun community event and raise some cash for church repairs.
The work and time involved in preparing for and putting on the fete is huge.
The return is relatively small, and will be even less without our advertising signs.
