The bridge is nearing completion and I think it is going to look brilliant .

Once open lots of people will be coming into the town to inspect the structure and enjoy some time by the river.

My brief letter is a plea to whoever is responsible for the riverside paths to get on swiftly with resurfacing the path from the new bridge to Raphael's Restaurant .

Mums with prams, children learning to ride their bikes, elderly walkers and fishermen enjoy using the route.

However, every winter the scenario is the same. The path floods and when the river retreats it washes away the surface leaving deep craters and pools of mud to negotiate.

The point where the fish refuge crosses the path is currently in a positively dangerous state.

The only long-term solution is to tarmac the route.

Indeed, it would be lovely to see a cycle/walkway all along the river from Evesham Country Park to Tesco.

What a boost for visitor numbers that would be. Maybe some of the new homes supplement could be used to finance it?
