Thought for the week
8:20am Friday 17th August 2012 in S-U
WHAT an Olympic Games they have been. I for one did not expect to get caught up in the excitement and the competition.
To be selected to represent your country in the Olympics is an honour and a challenge. It demands everything.
As I watched from the comfort of the sofa, I became aware of the competitors’ total commitment and dedication.
Sometimes it brought success and a medal but at other times it brought great disappointment, but they were there and they gave their all.
We have been selected and chosen for something greater – for life. We have been given such opportunity and challenge. To be alive, to see the sun rise on another day and to sense the wonders of life all around is a miracle.
Just stop now, look around you, take a deep breath and rejoice in the life you have.
Then decide to live that life to the full, to do the best you can facing the challenges and demands that life brings with courage and faith.
We have something far greater than a gold medal – we are alive. What a wonder, what a mystery.
Let each of us give our all to run the race set before us, to have faith and courage to step out and do something good and life- changing for yourself and those around you. You can make the world a better place by being alive to the challenges it brings.
Go on, go and live and rejoice in the mystery and challenges of life.
God bless you on your way.
