Harvington

10:10am Thursday 16th May 2013

Year five in Harvington First School have been proving themselves versatile recently. They had a first aid day which was led by a volunteer from St John Ambulance, and the children learnt how to help the ill and injured. They also participated in the language festival at the Evesham Arts Centre, where they performed a French song which had been composed for them from vocabulary learnt in recent French lessons. Make a date for the St James’ Church Harvington Village Fete on Saturday 1 June. Now is the time to decide what you will enter in the show marquee. This year’s attractions include a climbing wall and an arts workshop. Follow on Twitter @HarvingtonFete or on Facebook: Harvington Village Fete, or contact David Clover on 871692. Coming up: The Art Group will be meeting in the village hall between 2pm and 4pm on Friday, May 17. Contact Rita on 871123 or Ken on 871236. On Saturday, May 18, the St James’ Church gardening team will be meeting again to keep the churchyards looking tidy over the summer. They welcome anyone who has time to join them between 9.30am and noon for an hour or two, and there is chance to chat over coffee during the break at around 11am. At the April meeting of the Gardening Club, Elaine Horton gave advice on ‘late summer colour.’ The next meeting is on Wednesday, May 22, in the village hall, when Rob and Diane Cole will be speaking about ‘personal touches.’ Contact Libby Knight on 871531. A computer course for the over-50s is being run in the Coach and Horses from 11.30am every Thursday. Those attending are welcome to stay on afterwards and join others at the over-50s lunch club which meets between noon and 3pm for a chat and lunch. To book a place, order a vegetarian option or transport, contact Steve on 870249.
