WE celebrated American Independence Day by going to Texas with a very entertaining talk and slides given to us by Nicholas Clark.
It seemed to show that in spite of the heat and rather arid nature of the state, there was a wonderful array of flowers growing beside the roads and the usual American welcome everywhere.
The tables were decked with red, white and blue flower posies and one member made tray bakes which were decorated to reflect the Stars and Stripes. Stetsons, boots, jeans and checked shirts were in evidence too!
Another most enjoyable walk was available to us through our “walks provider” who always tries out the routes for us beforehand. We went from Fladbury, through Lower Moor passing the old gravel pits which have been turned into lakes with much plant and bird life. Refreshments were greatly enjoyed sitting beside a lake.
All are invited to our meeting on Wednesday, September 5, which will be a talk on The Restoration of Croome Park .
