MEMBERS and visitors were welcomed to the first meeting of the New Year. Copies of our bye-laws were handed to members and these were re-affirmed. Birthday wishes were extended to our December ladies as well as those who celebrate this month.

Various dates were announced for County and Group events. The Group Organiser vacancy is still available. This month’s flowers were won by Cecelia Evans and the competition – “something M” – had joint winners – Betty Bowron and Nadine Woakes with Pauline Bamber and Josie Witts not far behind.

Lynne Hackles’ “A Light Hearted Talk” was the story of how she became involved with the TV programme Deal or No Deal. It was whilst her husband, a keen cyclist, was recuperating from major heart surgery they first saw the Show on TV and with ‘I can do that’ the tale unfolded. It transpires that going on such programmes is quite a tortuous journey taking many months but also with lots of laughter and meeting many people from all walks of life. Lynne was lucky in that she won a significant sum which went towards a campervan which enabled them to explore the coast of the UK in relative comfort. Lynne was thanked by Pauline.
